Natives to Know: Betsy Fore
Betsy Fore’s parents joke that her first words were “McDonalds coke fry.” As a young girl, Betsy viewed fast food as a treat, and lit up when she saw the golden arches on road trips between her dad’s house and her mother’s on the Turtle Mountain Chippewa reservation. Since then, her palate has done a 180.
Today, Betsy is the Founder and Co-CEO of Tiny Organics — an early childhood nutrition company building a healthier generation of adventurous eaters with vegetable-first foods for babies and toddlers. Betsy is credited as the first indigenous woman in the U.S. to raise a Series A funding round for the company, securing $11 million in June of last year.
Betsy is a serial entrepreneur. An industrial engineer by trade, she has built over 100 products including toy lines for Mattel and Hasbro, online games for Mind Candy in the UK, and a wearable device for pets that made Oprah’s Favorite Things list.
Betsy believes in the importance of highlighting Native American role models in tech and entrepreneurship and currently serves as the Chief Impact Officer for Natives Rising. Click here to learn more about the nonprofit’s mentorship, networking, and personal growth opportunities.
